OUTBACK AUSTRALIA ..... Back When #38..

.... although early for ANZAC Day (25th April)  It was on 25 April 1915 that the armies of Australia and New Zealand entered into their premier battle of the First World War, at Gallipoli, Turkey.
On the 25th this year Walking Wombat devised an idea of an ANZAC Day Blip meet with our friends in New Zealand at Wanaka in a mark of respect for our fallen 100 years back.
You have all heard now, and surely felt an increasing excitement for this meet. Cannot wait to get on the plane Monday.
Back to the pic.... Mrs Beckett's Mum had an uncle (Herbert Pryor) who at the age of 22 years died in battle on 1st February 1917. He is on the right here, with his brother Thomas (Mrs Beckett's Grandfather). I blipped Tom Pryor in this series back on 27th Jan 2014.
Herbert  joined the 34th Battalion Australian Infantry Battalion (info here) leaving his home at Black Jack in Gunnedah New South Wales. He is buried at  http://www.cwgc.org/find-a-cemetery/cemetery/4700/HAZEBROUCK%20COMMUNAL%20CEMETERY# Hazebrouck Communal Cemetery.
Hence our interest in joining this special ANZAC Day in Wanaka, paying respect not only to Herbert Pryor but all who were lost in this War "back when"........Lest We Forget

Enjoy, and have a look in LARGE.
