View from the Kingdom

Off north today.  It was K's 60th birthday lunch in Montrose.  It was a beautiful day by the time the train arrived at lunchtime.  The Basin was full and it was a lovely view across to the distant hills.  I travelled 1st class so had a couple of glasses or rose on the train.  The lunch was held at the beautiful and historic Coutts Court and it was good to catch up with F and L as meeting new people.  We had a lovely meal in fantastic surroundings but all too short.

After 4 it was time to leave the elephant with F and head back south on an overcrowded (2 coaches) Aberdeen - Glasgow train.  Luckily i was changing at Dundee.  I love that journey, hugging the coast south and through Fife with views of the silvery Tay and back across to Edinburgh.

But it's chilly out.  Hope it gets warmer in the coming week.

Not a lot done tonight.  Three quarters of the way through my audible book and just realised that the annual sub I planned to cancel was automatically renewed, yesterday.  Ah well, never mind 18 more books.

Tomorrow won't be such a happy occasion, a funeral, not a birthday lunch.
