Some Things Don't Work

Today's Blip is all about Moot.

When I got up this morning I thought there was something not quite right with Moot. He went to his litter tray and tried, it seemed to me, to have a pee. Tried quite hard from what I could see. But nothing happened.

He came out of his box making a frightful noise (he can make some very odd noises so that in itself is not strange) but then he proceeded round the flat looking for all the world like he was going to piss somewhere. He didn't and after a bit of strokey-strokey, he quietened down.

I left and went to Mainz. I wrote a quick Email to G telling her what had happened and she said she'd look out for him. He was pretty unsettled for a lot of the morning and so, she phoned the vet. She got an answerphone "Please phone back at 5" message.

I was on my way home when I got a call saying she had talked to the vet and we'd better get Moot in to see him pronto. So I got home, got Moot into his carrycase as schnell as possible and then we headed for the vet. I'll skip over the f***ing traffic bit of this...

And so at the vet, Moot is not well. He has something like kidney stones and they've blocked his urethra, his bladder is REALLY full and there's a danger to his kidneys. They need to sedate him and operate now.

Moot is not a cat to "go gentle into that good night". He wasn't having any of it and he fought quite hard but with the aid of a little sleeping gas and some gauntlet like gloves and an injection, he finally went under.

What seemed like 2 days later they came out and said they'd managed to clear him out but they'd run tests on his blood, urine (they got quite a lot of that judging by the smell) & on the stones that they'd taken out.

The tests are OK they say, but Moot will have to go back to see the vet tomorrow and on Saturday.

He's now home, out of it on happy cat drugs and sleeping on an old shirt of mine. I would have blipped him but I want him to have a bit of peace. He deserves that.

I love my cat. I realised again how much I do. Get well soon, little chum.
