Day at a Time

Traigh Mhòr

The famous Barra Airport; planes land on and take off from the beach. The flying timetable is tide dependent. Traigh Mhòr means 'big beach' and it certainly is. Traigh Mhòr is a huge sweep of hard, compacted white sand which is fine for the tiny planes which serve the Isle. The airport cafe serves wonderful fresh, homemade food.

We have walked and walked today along beautiful beaches such as these. We've done a lot of island spotting too. The weather is perfect - warm, clear and windless.
