Deep Throat, Painterly Plant Porn

I bought my Canon MP-E macro lens last autumn at the end of the bug season. I've been too stressed with stuff associated with selling the family home to spend time getting used to it. It's a weird piece of kit as it doesn't focus like a normal lens and the plane of focus is wafer thin.

Luckily I used to focus my 100mm macro using the holding breath and rocking back and forth method so using this lens isn't completely alien to me.

I bought a tripod and a macro slider to use with this lens together with my ring flash but I've been trying it hand held today without flash. My pic is of the tiny flower of ground ivy. This is an insect's eye view, looking into the throat of the flower. The male anthers on the end of the filaments can be seen bursting with pollen and the female stigma points upwards.
