Fond memories...

Went to see my two brothers in Liverpool tonight.  Both Barry and David are "special needs" meaning that they have to have support 24/7.  Not that they cannot get around on their own - they are both quite able physically, its just that they couldn't fully cope on their own. So they live in separate houses on either side of Liverpool (but they still see each other regularly however they do need helpers with them at all times).  We went to see mum & dad with our fourth brother, Stephen and we took flowers. Notice it says 5 sons on the gravestone - yes folks, my poor mum had to put up with 6 men in her life but she never seemed to complain.  She always wanted a daughter but it was us, her sons who had the daughters she never had so I like to think she was happy with that.  The missing son is younger brother Ray who lived life to the full but sadly passed away very suddenly in his early 50's about 6 years ago. Anyway it was a beautiful, sunny evening and we all enjoyed the visit and the memories.

We then went across the road to meet our cousin Mandy and her mum Aunty Betty (my mother's younger sister) in the aptly named Pub in the Park.  We stopped going there a few years ago because of the poor service but since then it has changed hands (again) and at the moment is offering excellent food and service - long may it continue.  Just going back to our earlier visit to the cemetery, the stone on the right commemorates my mum's mum (our Nanny or as my children used to call her "Little Nanny").  She made it to the ripe old age of 95 back in 1993 so that is pretty good going considering she was widowed in her early 30's and single handedly brought up 8 children - boy they were tough in those days (7 survived) - all girls!  How ironic...

Nanny is pretty well right opposite my mum and dad so that's nice isn't it?
