Please keep off the tombs...

Makes really interesting reading - top left photo.  I read it fully for the first time today despite walking past this spot hundreds (if not thousands) of times.  These tombs are part of the very beautiful St Ann's Church in the centre of Manchester.  As you will see from their website, the church was dedicated in 1712 (303 years ago!). I know you will think me silly but for the first time today I began to think about the people who carved these tombstones and inscribed them with such beautiful lettering. Their work has lasted over 300 years - a testament to their skill!  Going back to the sign - the photo below the first photo is the tombstone referring to Nathanael Banne (notice the old spelling of Nathaniel) and the translation of the Latin inscription is given on the printed sign.  Very interesting....
