Hover Fly
It's that time of year again. Have a coffee in the garden with a friend and ignore her because you see a Hover Fly. I didn't mean to. Honest!
This is one of our most common ones that's found all over the UK and goes by the fab Latin name, Syrphus ribesii. The flower is a Nemesia that has a wonderful vanilla scent. It's survived the winter and is ready to go again. Not often that happens.
