Damselfly at Plean Country Park

After a busy morning painting the railing at our front door then lunch with FD55, MaggieD and I set off for Plean Country Park. We have not visited for a long, long time and were quite pleased to see that very little had changed. The old Plean House dates from around 1800 but was destroyed by fire (vandals!) in 1972. It is now ruinous and surrounded by a chain link fence which really does nothing for it. We spent some time sitting by a pond to see if there were any dragonflies around but all we saw were damselflies like this one. I did spot a newt coming up from the depth and grabbing a small insect from the surface - a sort of micro-jaws!
Friday has rolled round once more and we shall be celebrating HM's Jubilee over the weekend. Whatever your thoughts regarding royalty, She has never put a foot out of place in all those 60 years. Here's a Health unto her Majesty
