A day in Reykjavik

Back blip
Our first stop was Perlan (The pearl) , a dome shaped glass building standing 25.7 metres high. Six massive water tanks surround the building each with a capacity of 4 million litres. The view from the top would look great on a bright day but it wa blowy and abit wet when we were up there. We did manage to walk all the way round though.
We left Ashlene and Richard who were spending a few days in the city and went to see if anyone was swimming in at the GeoThermal beach. A manmade area where cold and hot water merges together. A few people were braving the waters some just dipping their toes and then running back to the hot baths. We were wrapped up in our warm clothes :)
We explored the streets of old houses near the water front and found a great café over looking the Old harbour. Think it was Happy hour as our soup and coffee was included in our meal of fresh fish. A very good meal.
Parked at the Harpa and then went searching for the street art that can be seen on carparks, house, walls , well everywhere really. Some fantastic pieces of work and fun finding new pieces.
A quick visit to Hallgrimskirkja , a Lutheran parish church , the largest church in Iceland at 73 metres tall, sixth tallest structure in Iceland. We took the trip to the bell tower and were able to look down to the colourful roofs of Reykjavik.
Down to the sea front to see the Solfar, sun voyager, ' a dreamboat, an ode to the sun' Seen so many pictures of it so it was wonderful to see it first hand.
The last piece of street art we were saw was the one pictured, we think it had just been completed as the paint was still wet and the spray cans left scattered on the ground.
On returning to The Harpa we were greeted by a band that was wandering around the building, a great sound.
