Paradise Hallow

The day was overcast to start with and we were going to stay in to have a rest day but the wonderful Baker was calling us so we popped out to Borgarnes to get some rolls and cake. It had brightened up so we drove up to Glanni waterfall on the Norðurá River. We parked near the well kept Golf course and walked on snow covered paths through the lava fields with low bushes and moss covered rocks to a viewing platform. The waterfall was fast flowing after the start of the snow melt, a wide river fall on one of the best salmon and trout rivers in Iceland.
We followed the path round to Paradise Hollow, seen above, with it's crystal clear waters and a wonderful blue, green colour. Interesting rock surrounded the pool and it is thought by some Icelanders to be the home to trolls and elves. In many gardens we saw tiny little house put up for the elves. It really did feel like an elf or troll would pop out any minute.
We drove back along a road we had nt been down before and stopped at a very narrow bridge that did nt look wide enough for the car so we pulled in and parked and Mike and the boys walked over to an old turf roofed Icelandic house. A car did go over but we decided to turn round  and join the main road. Saw lots of horses and a few sheep near to farm buildings, the first sheep we have seen.
Back to the accommodation and we had a very tasty salmon with potatoes and spinach.
