Mr Smith

A great day in Edinburgh! It began rather dull, then the sun came out and the whole day was glorious. I took 335 photographs!

The hour - or so - with Alexander McCall Smith was brilliant. A very funny man, who had hysterics a few times with his own recollections, but a modest, intelligent, educated and well-spoken gentleman who proved to be very entertaining. I bought his latest book - A Work of Beauty - which he signed for me. It's a book of pictures of Old Edinburgh, with his own text. We ordered this book for Oban Library so have just read it, but if you want to see it, there it is!

The 'conversation' took place in the reference room at the Central Library, which is itself a beautiful room.

Home tomorrow.
