Friday evening

After dinner I went along the coast a couple of miles to Kinghorn. I needed some fresh air and a gentle stroll to help the digestion.

A disappointingly cloudy end to a sunny day.

Strange place, Kinghorn. Lovely location and plenty beautiful homes, but a main street which lets it down badly.

It's a good place to go for a "routine" beach walk. Views south over to Edinburgh and west to the Forth Bridges. The beach is one of Scotland's top 8, by reference to the official gradings published this week.

It has a handful of friendly memories, the most public one being my participation in the Black Rock 5 in 2009. It's one of the world's most challenging running races according to a recently published book. It starts and finishes in the village, and you run out over the sand to a rock which is only fully out of the water at the lowest of low tides.

Well, I wasn't last.
