Emperer Moth

I am not quite sure where the "Emperor" in the name of this moth comes from - other than perhaps it is one of the larger British moths. The latin name Saturnia pavonia is a bit more obvious as the "eyes" on the wing were meant to look like Saturn. This female decided that our wall was a good place to shelter from the cold strong wind today.
We had some neighbours around for a curry tonight, making up for the inexcusable lack of a curry house on the isles. with eating the last of our French pumpkins of last summer, chillies from last summer and the second dose of this year's rhubarb, it was good to have some home-grown produce. Didn't catch the prawns though.
The seeds I planted in pots about two weeks ago are loving it here - the only difficulty is going to be transporting them out to the Ardeche.
