Between fen and mountains

Wild peony

Today's walk was a fairly easy one, just five miles and only 400 metres of ascent.  We were off in search of wild flowers.  There was plenty of thyme, aphrodèles, wild tulips and yellow and purple miniature irises.  This is the first wild peony I have seen this year.  The walk would have been better without the cold Tramontane wind and flurries of driving rain!  Still, if it never rained here the place would be a desert!
