Sharp dressed fly

All done up in his best wasp suit to keep the predators away, this hoverfly was enjoying the dazzling array of wildflowers in bloom in the wilderness garden at Hampton Court Palace.

I had been disappointed at the thought of having missed the daffodils this year but the buttercups, daisies, dandelions, cow parsley and others I couldn't even name more than made up for it.

After weeks of griping about my lack of photo opportunities it was nice to have the problem of sorting through several hundred frames to find a blip!
