Village Life

I made a rare sortie to Milngavie this morning ( Bearsden's neighbour) to hand in some garments for alteration and I went for a stroll through the pedestrian precinct. The small town is perhaps best known as the start of the West Highland Way long-distance footpath that runs north for 95 miles  to Fort Willam.
There are signs that the temperature is beginning to rise - the girl with the dogs is not wearing a jacket and some hardy customers of Costa Coffee are sitting outside. Some of the original village buildings can be seen in the background - the original St Paul's church now converted to apartments, the Cross Keys pub at the corner and some stone-built villas.
In the early 1980s, the town centre was pedestrianised and new shops built. It is a commuter area for Glasgow and has 4 trains an hour including two that run to Edinburgh, picking up and dropping passengers at all stations en route including those in Glasgow City Centre.
