120/365: How we roll in South Yorkshire

The Lord Conyers Morris Men performing the Abbots Bromley Horn Dance at the Trysting Tree (of Ivanhoe fame) in my home village. It's comprised of Deer-men (with antlers), a Fool, a Hobby Horse, Robin Hood and Maid Marian.

From this photo you'd think it was comical, but it's really not. It's somber, ethereal and a tad spooky to be honest... all very Wickerman!

The dance tonight signifies the end of the winter, they will dance again at dawn to welcome in the summer and to ensure a good future harvest.

It was enjoyable, as always. Well done to all taking part.
