What is the Jubilee?

I picked Zoe up at the airport for another week with us improving her English. She is quickly discovering what the Jubilee means and Mrs TT showed her Royal memorabilia collection including this Victorian pressed glass Golden Jubilee dish. I chose this photo but Zoe preferred this one.
