Sydney Aquarium

What foul weather this morning - it was raining buckets and the news reports were talking about a cyclone further north up the coast. We had to revise our plans once again....we started off with a visit to the Museum of Sydney, which was rather interesting about the beginnings of the city. It also was the venue for a photographic portrait exhibition that started today - it has been advertised all over the city so I was rather keen to see it. I ended up only seeing half of it as the other half was still being hung! Not very organised, it seems.

Then we came back to the hotel where Luke had a High Coffee experience - like a high tea but with various coffees, starting with an espresso martini (at 11am!) He never knew it involved so much food and was feeling rather stuffed afterwards - I did not participate, I just drank my flat white and laughed at him trying to get through all the scones, macaroons, and even a home made magnum ice cream!

Even though it was raining he had to walk this off, so we headed out and visited the Botanic Gardens again, walked through the city past the beautiful hospital, the library, Martin Place and we visited Hyde Park and the Anzac memorial. After wandering around the city we found ourselves at Darling Harbour and decided to go visit the aquarium. It was a good experience, it is much larger than we expected with some very interesting species of fish including two dugongs. Here is one of the large display tanks with Luke in silhouette.

My extra photo is the view from the rooftop bar of our hotel.

We are waiting for Gavin to get back from Melbourne and then we are about to go out for supper, sadly this is our last night in Sydney.
