Bowood 2015 #18 (Thursday 23th April 2015)

What better way to acknowledge St George's Day than with a visit to a stately home? Naturally in my case this was Bowood House and Gardens and included a cappuccino at the Treehouse Café, and some traditional free wi-fi.

All the pictures I took were made using HDR, and a monopod to aid the camera in aligning the three shots, and the aim was to achieve better exposure and detail across the images without getting that skeletal beneath-the-surface look that HDR can produce. There was a woman in the grounds at the same time with a tripod and some very expensive looking camera kit who looked very busy.

As well as photographing the garden terraces I walked onto the Lake Field where all the gulls were gathered on the bank beside the lake.
