All politics is local...

...was a phrase closely associated with American politician Tip O'Neill, once Speaker of the House.

It occurred to me this afternoon when campaigning with Brendan O'Hara , the SNP candidate for Argyll & Bute in the little village of Lochgoilhead .

This "Memorial Fountain" not only pays tribute to a significant local figure , it continues to provide a useful local service.

Given the abject failure of the present Argyll & Bute Council to do the same I am increasingly of the view that we should devolve power and decision making down to much more local bodies. Lochgoilhead would be the better for such change - as would the entire area.

Anyway , I am sure that blipper and famous former Lochgoilhead resident Peter May will recognise just where this is !
