Bad stile

Day 9 of the Westmoreland Way, from Kendal to Crooklands. It was forecast to rain the whole way - in fact it dried up soon after lunch and we even saw our shadows for about 5 minutes.

My blip is of a broken down stile on the way. We must have crossed 10 or 20 of these each day. Wooden ones, stone steps set into walls and squeeze stiles between tall stones. Not to count kissing gates and regular farm gates many with idiosyncratic fastenings. For 60 miles of the Way we were inside a National Park and the stiles were generally good, although I find the stone step type awkward as there is nothing to hold at the top. Today there were a few unsafe ones, and this was the worst.
