Chichester Jubilee celebrations

The Family and I ventured into Chichester today, braving the crowds to watch the procession that had been organised to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

This float embodied the spirit of the day; the procession was full of celebratory displays: a local junior school celebrating its 200th anniversary, with children dressed up in clothes from the different eras; a Samba band resplendent in red, white and blue; vintage vehicles; a procession from St George's Church in Chichester complete with a 20-foot high St George and his damsel, closely followed by a equally-tall green dragon.

Heading into Priory Park for the rest of the day, we enjoyed a fun day of displays, stalls and sideshows. Highlights were having a go at Morris Dancing with the Martlet Sword and Morris Men, Son of Mine handling a tarantula and both Children of Mine racing through a police speed camera to see how fast they could run (11/12 miles per hour - Son of Mine was fastest!).

Hope you've all had a great start to the Jubilee weekend :-)
