Castle Brederode

Castle Brederode, or better, the ruins of Castle Brederode are located near Santpoort Zuid near Haarlem.

The castle was founded in the second half of the 13th century by William 1 van Brederode (1215–1285). William was a descendant of the lords van Teylingen, who were related to the counts of Holland.

Once a grand castle is now a ruin that can be visited a few days per week.

Today we also remember the dead during WW2 before celebrating Liberation Day tomorrow, exactly 70 years ago.
