Beamish: 'Puffing Billy'

The 2006 're-creation' of William Hedley's original 1813 steam locomotive 'Puffing Billy' raising steam outside the 'great shed' at the North of England Open Air Museum at Beamish in County Durham, before starting a day of demonstration runs along the museum's 'Pockerley Waggonway'.

Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, it was not giving rides along the waggonway, but this did not spoil our enjoyment of the day - another long-term ambition that we were able to fulfil today.
