Helmshore Mills Textile Museum

We have wanted to visit the museum at Helmshore ever since we discovered it was the interior location for the mill scenes in the BBC's 2004 dramatisation of Elizabeth Gaskell's North and South - and today the opportunity actually arose.

The tour includes a working demonstration of one of the Condenser Cotton Spinning Mules on the upper floor of Whittaker's Mill, as seen here.
