Malta, the return

Calculations the previous day had established that we needed to get the 9.45 ferry from Gozo to Malta, which meant having an early breakfast, checking out, and being ready for the minibus to take us the short distance down to the ferry terminal. I was hugely surprised when I enquired about buying tickets and I was told there was no need for one, even though we hadn't arrived by ferry in the first place. It's a short crossing, and we'd already organised a minibus to take us all, including Fergus, direct from the port to the airport. We got there at 11.00, in good time for check-in and a lazy wait in the departures area and a final pint of Cisk beer.

The blip is a final glimpse of Mgarr on Gozo. Fergus's Fort Chambray residential development is visible on the summit of the hill.

Ryanair got us safely home, once again on schedule. We were greeted with drizzle and strong winds back in Dublin, which made it all the more depressing to be back home again. Malta? An excellent place to visit. Cheap. Gozo especially relaxing and enjoyable, quieter than the main island. I'll go again.

I've back-blipped the trip to Malta and Gozo, beginning here.
