Droitwich canal

Well what a thoroughly miserable June day today, but no matter because it has washed away any plans that might have lured me away from watching the jubilee pageant on the TV. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the pageant - such a shame that the rain didn't hold off a little longer in London.

It was always going to be a difficult day for finding a blip, but our morning trip out for the weekly food shop took us Droitwich, where the Waitrose supermarket is right alongside the recently restored Droitwich Canal.

The restoration of this stretch of canal is very pleasing because it has created the smallest canal ring in the country, making an ideal route for a circular long weekend break. I love canal boating so will certainly be doing this trip some time soon, so long as I can muster a crew of enthusiastic family or friends to join me.

A view of a narrowboat on a waterway feels quite appropriate for this day in which boats have featured large.
