Rain, Thistles and Flags

The heavens opened last night giving a good watering to the parched garden. The rain last month was all to quickly taken up from the soil by thirsty plants and high temperatures.

This morning the rain drops on this thistle, Cirsium rivulare Atropurpureum, were so pretty and with the union flag as a background seemed quite patriotic. I tried the same shot with the saltire reflected in the droplets but outnumbered by Sassanachs it didn't work as well and the verdict was to blip this!

Having a lazy day today as tomorrow is all go. Tickets purchased for the Surrey County Show, which promises to be a wash out tomorrow morning, and the village Jubilee party, for which the weather forecast is better, in the evening. Off to walk the dogs now as it's probably best they don't join me tomorrow... although they could be useful to lead me home!!
