Road Trip

After breakfast took off in the car for a trip along the south coast of Messinia. First stop was the amazing castle at Methoni. It's quite spread out and between the areas are loads of varieties of wild flowers. There aren't many tourists about at the moment as it's the beginning of the season, making it lovely and peaceful with no loud booming voices shouting at one another. Perfect!

Next stop was Finikounda, a sleepy little fishing village with a harbour, surrounded by hills and a lovely little beach, further along little coves that can be reached easily by boat.

It was very hot so we decided to have lunch at the big taverna on the hill, where this picture of the bay was taken. Instead of having a small snack we stuffed our faces with dishes from the oven, and afterwards just wanted to sleep. It was delicious though. There were a couple of feral moggies sitting looking up appealingly so they ate well on beef and cheese.

Drove back to Pylos to get some provisions and sat under the plane tree again with a coffee frappe and watched the world go by...

We still weren't ready to eat by 9 so decided to wander in to Gialova and have a crepe and ice cream to finish off the day.

Election Day today, did a postal vote, posted it on Sunday morning at 4.30am on the way to the airport!
