Osteospermum

Osteospermums belong to the daisy family hence their common names: African Daisy, Cape Daisy and Blue-eyed Daisy. The name Osteospermum comes from Greek 'osteon' (bone) and Latin 'spermum' (seed): bone seed. I've never seen this hybrid before with spoon-shaped petals. They remind me of a slow motion photograph of a drop of water as it hits a surface and the water flies off symmetrically in droplets.  I also like the yellow disc with the blue centre - so beautiful. These have been potted on and are being housed in the conservatory till the tubs with their spring displays are finally over.
