Hulme Hippodrome...

The rather rundown building in the background in the picture below is Hulme Hippodrome. Inside there is a beautiful theatre auditorium like in the Palace and Opera House theatres. Sadly it’s mouldering away and is in a decrepit condition. It’s so close to the city centre and it would be great to have it restored.

It’s had an interesting history. After being a theatre it became a bingo hall. That closed and it was taken over by a church. It became a scene of daily miracles. Women in the congregation started having virgin births on a regular basis and two week pregnancies were commonplace. The Manchester police would like a word with the guy who runs the church but he appears to have gone missing. Must have ascended into heaven on a cloud or the like...
