An Avid Lensman

JMW...

Turner.

Decided that I hadn't been out for a sunrise for quite a while - and you could argue that I didn't get one either!

Better LARGE

But was glad to get onto Avon Valley Nature Reserve in the dark, ready for whatever nature threw at me. A cuckoo calling from the left, another more distant one to the right, whilst a bat still flitted about. The Dawn Chorus was symphonic. A buzzardy bird of prey hovered over the reed-beds, whilst a little egret stalked minnows, walking comically like a character from Monty Python's Flying Circus.

This newly created lagoon, is, I'm sure, designed to create a pond-life habitat and NOT intended as a reflection foreground for photographers....

It was SO lovely to have the entire river, its banks and all its natural inhabitants entirely to myself. Sunrise being around 5.30 these days, too early for sensible dog walkers and joggers to be around.

Tripod legs are in mud, whilst a sort of glow was happening somewhere over the hill, across the river and behind the trees. But this is less about the colours of sunrise and more about the one hundred and fifty shades of daubed marbled grey....

The sun is out now (typically!) so everybody, have a wonderful day!

Lens is Nikkor 10-24mm
