Collared Dove.

If you look very carefully you will notice the tip of the beak bends downward at about 80 degrees.  This appears to be only the upper mandible.  He/she (I think you have to be a collared Dove to be able to sex one) has been visiting the garden for about 3 years.  So it would appear the deformity is not handicapping it in anyway.

After a poor start the weather turned into a pleasant afternoon.  We had filled the less promising part of the day by going to the plant sale in the village hall.  In the afternoon I was pottering about doing various jobs in the garden and the pair of Doves were sat in the top of the Silver Birch.

I took the opportunity to take a number of shots all were better than this but this was the only one which showed the beak so that.is what I chose.
