Look who's back!

Got an early text from Freya saying she was at Verona airport to come home so I used the wake up call to get up and paint another wall in the living room ahead of making lunch for my brother and his family.

Cooked a feast of leek & potato soup, rolls with your choice of bacon, square sausage, links or potato scones, meringues, rocky road (made with coco pops instead of biscuits for crunch - thanks for the tip Ange) and a Victoria Sponge with cream and jam. It all went down a treat as usual and Robin's 3 boys all had fun with Noah playing with assorted electronic devices for the rest of the afternoon while we had a good chat and catch up.

They left just after 6 which was almost time to go and get Freya from the airport, we all went to pick her up and it was obvious how much Noah had missed her by his excitement levels and the speed at which he through himself at her for a death grip hug as soon as she appeared out the arrival hall. I swear she's grown up in the last seven days, she's certainly pinker and got more freckles than she had a week ago, but it sounds like she just had the best time.

We sat together all evening listening to tales of Gardaland theme park, her day in Verona, shopping in Pechiero del Garda, relaxing with friends, eating pizza and ice cream, water parks, medieval banquets and looking at all the corresponding photos. She had an absolute ball and it was definitely worth my mothers-angst. I'm realising it's good practice for when she gets older, travels further, and doesn't come back quite so soon.

After all my painting and cooking and the excitement and happiness of Freya's return I reckon I might just turn in early. It will be nice to get up in the morning and finish off the last wall needing done in the living room (unless I get a better offer.)
