Never gonna be the same?..

As I blipped yesterday, the penny dropped on a few issues preying on my mind over the past few days. I'll talk about all 3 over the next few blips.

The first penny to drop (and admittedly the most painful) was regarding the nature of a potential friendship and the desperately sad realisation that it's damaged beyond repair. In truth I'd hoped for more than friendship with the person and expressed that - though friendship itself would have been a blessing in my life given the qualities of the person concerned. Sadly through my own words and deeds I've even destroyed that potential.

Of course people come in and out of your life all the time; some mean more than others, some you feel you click with on a level that means your life is truly enriched by their presence. But when the link breaks, it's not always possible to fix it. When the connection you had with someone alters to one or the other's discomfort, it becomes an untenable situation.

When you are the one who is responsible for the break it doubles the sadness of the sense of loss. All you can say is sorry, and you wish things had not happened that did; but you can't undo what you've done that makes the person look at you differently.

Omnia causa fiunt

All you can do is move on and wish that person the best the world has to offer, because it's the least that they deserve. And thank them for the short time when they helped make your life a little better. And of course be thankful that no bad blood exists between them.

I'll still see them playing in the ether, but it's never gonna be the same.......

NEXT TIME: the second penny.

From "Never Gonna Be the Same" by Danny Wilson

"Once there was an angel
an angel and some friends (who)
flew around from song to soul
making up the ends
people nowadays don't need them
people nowadays they need people to blame
they need, people to blame.

Once a china cup is cracked
it can be made to look new again
and it may for ever stay intact
but it's never gonna be the same."
