Cave shrine

A nativity scene in the cave shrine of St. John the hermit in Western Crete. It's among the olive groves a couple of kilometres' walk from where we're staying and is utterly extraordinary and wonderful. So is the story of the Saint, which you can read here - there's a picture of the icon we saw later today in the monastery in Kolimbari.

After heavy rain in the night, today has been perfect - blue sky, pleasant breeze.
