Happy face!

Another intermittent year in arrears blip with a couple of extras as I couldn't make up my mind!

A fairly chilly night drive with Shakabarker Tours on the Eastern Shores of iSimangaliso offered up another selection of wonderful wildlife by spotlight. The ability of some guides to drive, operate a spotlight and still spot a young flap-necked chameleon in a tree is nothing short of amazing - as ever the chameleon look unimpressed by the whole thing!

I have something of a soft spot for spotted hyenas which have been on the end of some awful character assassination by the likes of Disney over the years. This mother and young male were part of a pack seem regularly on the Eastern Shores at night.

Finally I've included the male bushbuck because these unobtrusive little antelopes get easily overlooked despite being rather handsome.
