High Tea with Her Majesty...

and the Queen!

Mum came into town to meet me for lunch and I had a little surprise for her - afternoon tea with the Queen!

There's a little cafe in Kemp Town called The Tea Cosy which started out as a shrine to Princess Diana.  The walls and ceiling are covered in Royal memorabilia including a life size cardboard cut out of the Queen, and a toilet seat that Camilla is reported to have sat on!

Apparently at 4pm on Sundays they play the National Anthem and ask customers to stand as a mark of respect.  Mum loved it, and the food was great too, each item having a royal name - mum had a Prince Phillip, which was cheese on toast and I had a Prince Albert which was a toasted cheese & ham sandwich.

The atmosphere is very relaxing with music from the 1940's and 50's playing in the background, and it was nice to see that the latest Royal addition Princess Charlotte's picture was in a frame and placed next to one of Princess Diana.

We'll definitely go back another time for a royal high tea - I love Brighton for all these lovely quirky places!
