A Profusion of Wild Garlic

Two people this week have told me about Stocking Wood, which lies on the northeast side of Swithland Wood. It's only recently been demarcated as such because it is a conservation area that has been fenced off from the rest of the wood.

There are more flowers in this area: bluebells, red campion, and Yellow Archangel - Lamiastrum Galeobdolon, and, right at the edge, a crowd of wild garlic. Lovely to see. Yes, there is a mild fragrance of garlic.

I had to put Basil on a lead in the conservation area. He was very patient so it seemed only fair to return to the main wood to let him romp around.

Back to check on George and Kat's cats, who are getting used to us.

Lovely May weather again today. Leicester City drew with Sunderland away, so have survived to see another season in the Premier Division.

Off to sing with the Tudor Choir shortly at St Paul's in Woodhouse Eaves. Part 2 of Messiah.

Now where is that black dress? And I need to herd the cats back into the conservatory.
