Above And Beyond...

Dog Tired!

Part of the break we booked included a free tour bus rover ticket for the day around Chester City Centre. After a hearty cooked breakfast (which I rarely eat) we drove into the city centre.  Luck found me an unrestricted parking spot in a side street, about 15 minutes walk from the railway station.

The tour bus was waiting and we on the open top bus for an hour's ride around Chester. You can get on and off as many times as you want but we did the whole thing in one go. On being dropped off back at the railway station we walked back into the town centre.  I took a mass of pictures, (trying to get away from the normal tourist ones). The one I like best is taken right in the heart of the city centre.

I felt sorry for the poor bloke. His alsatian dog lay on the pavement and would not get up! The chap tried poking the dog, who's paw came up and pushed his arm away. Two Police Officers who were walking past were laughing. Passers by were laughing. The dog was just not for moving.

The chap came up with a cunning plan and told the dog he was going and walked away. The dog did not even look up! Either he was dog tired or just enjoying sunbathing. I watched the whole thing for 15 minutes as I walked away. It was so funny. The dog was a real character. The poor owner was so embarrassed.

After wards we had some refreshments in a lovely cafe overlooking the Dee and then crossed over the suspension bridge for a 4 mile walk around the nature reserve bordering the city centre.

We then drove to Alderley Edge where even the charity shops are expensive. It's the haunt of famous footballers and the very wealthy. We've been there before and like the village. We got back to the hotel at 6.30pm and didn't have time to use the leisure facilities. A super meal beckoned us again.
