Catching up .....

With auntie Eileen. It may have been 4 years since we last met, but we had a good natter and bored everyone else to tears as we looked through some old photographs. I've put some names to some previously unknown faces and added a bit more to the history and scandal that is my family's rich tapestry.

First there is William Tindale who has a birth year in my family tree, but little else. Turns out that he died in 1916 from injuries received on board HMS Malaya in the battle of Jutland. This fact is all the more interesting because according to my records, Joseph Tindale, William's brother was involved in the same battle, but on board a different ship, HMS Warspite. Joseph was luckier than William and survived the war, living till 1967.

Second is good old Agnew, my grandad on my father's side. Turns out that my dad's younger sister is only 3 months younger than my dad. Figure that one out. Answers on a postcard.

Right, I'm off to bed. 50+ mile ride awaits me tomorrow morning. I'm doing it on Andrew's bike having lent mine to Mick. I have reservations. Andrew's bike is a different size and geometry to my bike. And the saddle looks iffy at best. Not convinced this is going to go well. My bottom and other body parts may live to regret it.
