A Sasanach's Skye photos

By Sasanach

An Emerald pool at the foot of a cascade.

The hill is Beinn Dearg Mhor (Pronounced 'Jerrik Vor') which means large or tall red; so it is the Large/tall Red Hill.
The burn is Allt an t-Sratha Bhig. (I am unable find a translation of this Gaelic name).
I was struck by the clarity of the deep emerald coloured pool at the foot of the cascade. The clarity of the light and the illumination at this time of day help a great deal I am sure. Needless to say the polarising filter also increased the saturation of the colours.
Interestingly enough the map locator shows Allt Slapin but not the next similar sized burn that I photographed which is the more interesting of the two.
