First Holy Communion

Early start this morning, we had to be at church by 09.10 at the latest for Carys's first Holy Communion. Last night she changed her mind about how she wanted her hair, so it was a little stressful this morning getting it right. She looked lovely in her dress and was very excited about everything. The mass was lovely, the hymns were the same as the last two weeks which added to the atmosphere and people really sang out. William behaved really well in a very squashed pew. I was proud of him and he was proud of his sister. Carys read her bit of the bidding prayers slowly and clearly, when she came back she said "Mummy, church is properly full!" When communion time came I realised what she meant as people just kept coming.

After mass we headed home for some photos in the garden and sausage sandwiches. Carys then got changed for her dance display and we walked down to Walsworth Festival.

She danced twice, once in tiny St. Faith's church and then in the huge main arena. She wasn't phased by the different spaces and by the time they were doing the reverence in the main arena you would not have known that she only did it for the first time yesterday. Showing what a perfectionist she is, using her initiative she had asked Miss Jenny, one of the teachers to go through the reverence with her so that she knew it by the time they did it out on the arena.

After dancing both kids went on the harnessed trampolines and Will was almost jettisoned into the sky, they also had a go at archery before we walked home for tea. I am exhausted, I don't know how Carys keeps going.
