Ferry Terminal

The start of our trip to Lenno today got off to a slow start as it must have taken us at least an hour just to get out of Aberdeen. We arrived at the Ferry Terminal in Newcastle (North Shields) just as check in for the ferry was starting. There is a new queue now for the recently introduced passport check on departure, but it did not hold us up much. There also seemed to be checks on some of the vehicles leaving for the ferry, but we were not one of the vehicles selected, it is presumably a fairly random sample.

The weather was quite good, at any rate not cold, so once we had dropped off our stuff in the cabin we adjourned to the Sky Bar, a fairly brief visit as we were booked in for the first dinner sitting. after dinner we were entertained by the on board entertainer in the Navigator Bar. The outward journey was on the Princess Seaways, for the return we are on the King Seaways, the two ships are almost indistinguishable.

The photograph shows a smaller ferry terminal than the one from which we departed, this is shortly after our departure and taken from next to the Sky Bar.
