Hodge Close

Considering how long I have been coming to Cumbria it's surprising I have never been to Hodge Close before.

After waiting in for a gas engineer we headed down to Ulverston to see Scott's parents and stopped on the way to bag another Wainwright.  It was Holme Fell which is only a small one but it was a pretty walk with good views and not as cold and windy as the last couple of days.

On the way back to the car we came through Hodge Close.  What an amazing place this is.  Not good for someone like me who hates heights though.

I liked the subtle tones in these Silver Birches against the rock face.  We hung around for quite a time hoping for a shaft of sunlight but eventually gave up as they illuminated all around us but not where we were.

Needless to say,  the sun came out 10 minutes after we left.

Looks better large
