A view from Jeanneb

An evening in Skipton.

Posting a bit late tonight as we have been in Skipton.

Chris had to attend a Visitiation service at Holy Trinity Church at 7.30 so we went late afternoon and had our tea there. It was very pleasant as it was fairly quiet which, for those of you who know Skipton, is quite a rarity.

Those of you who do know it ( and many others, particularly in Yorkshire) will know who this is. I knew instantly, even from a distance, though I confess I haven't seen this statue before.

We walked down the back of the Main Street between Ellar Beck and the canal spur. Lovely back gardens and barges of course. We saw a pair of swans with four cygnets and an encounter with a small terrier! You can see it in my extra.
Then along to the canal basin where this figure can be seen.

After tea we walked around the High Street before the service. It is currently sporting very colourful flags of the three lions but on a red background, so nothing to do with football.
There is an exhibition on the Magna Carta, in the Craven Museum in the Town Hall, till the end of June. Might be worth a revisit.

Do you know who the statue is of?
