Goddess of Youth - Hebe

In the coolness of the morning air, small clusters of purple flowers were seen glowing in the light.

The Hebe genus is named after the Greek goddess of youth, Hebe. It is native to New Zealand and is the largest plant genus in New Zealand with about 90 species. Large-leaved species are normally found on the coast, in lowland scrub and along forest margins. At higher altitudes smaller-leaved species grow, and in alpine areas there are whipcord species with leaves reduced to thick scales.

Hebes are also grown in many gardens and public areas; they attract butterflies - but not today.

Two challenges today:
flowerFriday hosted by BikerBear and maymacromayhem hosted by Walking Wombat, thank you both :)

Chilly this morning followed by a calm day. I pottered in the garden and sprinkled baking soda on our mossy brick path, it was getting quite slippery. I'll leave it for a few days before scrubbing off.

Out and about tomorrow with some jobs to be done in the city, great to have the weekend here again.

Happy weekend everyone :)
