Nav skills: room for improvement

This pair were wandering about in the garden this morning finding various delicacies to eat and perhaps looking for some water to nest beside.  Mrs D was waddling around behind Mr D following him everywhere and I could almost hear her saying "Are you absolutely sure there's a pond here?"  Sadly our pond is a) the other side of the house and b) raised so as to be child safe rather than wildlife friendly; and the nearest river access is half a mile north east.  She eventually flew off towards the river with hubby trailing behind.

This reminded me of the duck who took a liking to our pond a few years ago.  She laid her eggs three days in a row just on the coping stones around the raised pond (no nest) and they rolled into the water!  We felt so sorry for her we rigged a ramp up to the pond edge, but she never got the hang of it.

Apart from enjoying watching the ducks, my day was frustratingly ineffectual but hopefully will end better as I'm going out to try my first pair of climbing shoes.
